We are currently seeking a candidate for the position of Accounting & Payroll Clerk out of our Ferndale WA office. The role involves processing Accounts Payable and payroll for all our locations all while working closely with Human Resources and other department managers. This position reports to the Director of Administration. Roles and Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Administering Payroll
  • Processing semi-monthly payroll information by collecting, calculating, and entering data
  • Updating and maintaining payroll records
  • Verify time sheets, work closely with supervisors to clarify, resolve, and determine time clock data is correct.
  • Work with the payroll company in processing our semi-monthly payroll.
  • Process prevailing wage payroll as needed; working with supervisors, management, and state agencies.
  • Process withholding orders
  • Preparing payroll reports as required or requested.
  • Calculate and reconcile payroll liabilities such as federal taxes, state taxes and employee benefits.
  • Resolving payroll discrepancies and answering any employee payroll inquiries.
  • Work with Human Resources in enrolling eligible employees in elected benefits, updating payroll deductions to reflect enrollment, and reconciling benefit billings monthly.
  • Accounts Payable
  • Review and process vendor invoices.
  • Reconcile monthly vendor statements, researching and working with vendor partners in resolving any discrepancies.
  • Maintaining the vendor database, ensuring records are complete, accurate and current.
  • Preparing and processing A/P payments.
  • Accounting and Administration:
  • Abide by all company procedures and accounting principles.
  • Ensure Accounting Department runs smoothly and efficiently
  • Actively participate in weekly team meetings
  • Cross train in other accounting functions in effort to support others in the team.
  • Partner with the Administration team in performing basic office tasks, including answering phones, processing mail, etc as needed.
  • There may be other duties assigned as we continue to move forward in our industry.

Skills & Qualifications
  • Payroll processing a must
  • Maintain confidentiality and respect for privacy of employee records
  • Knowledge of wage withholding orders
  • Critical thinking skills with the ability to make sound and ethical decisions.
  • Accurate data entry skills with great attention to detail
  • Strong computer skills such as typing, system and software knowledge
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to communicate with employees and vendors.
  • Knowledge of iSolved, QuickBooks, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Excel; other payroll and/or accounting software a plus.
  • Ability to multitask and work independently in a fast-paced environment with specific deadlines
  • Degree in Accounting or related field preferred but willing to accept experience in work-related field in lieu of degree.

Salary & Benefits
  • Salary Range: $22 - $28 per hour DOE
  • 40 hours a week with a flexible schedule between the hours of 7 am to 5 pm, Monday through Friday.
  • 80 hours paid vacation
  • Accrued Sick time
  • Eligible for medical, dental, and supplemental insurances after 60 days.
  • 401k Safe Harbor plan with a company match up to 4% at 6 months of employment.
